Morristown - Pruddentown
Holding Tradition at its core, The proposed townhouse community hosts contemporary design concepts to suit the living style of the future townsmen.
Each unit respects its surrounding enviornment and takes advantage of the existing lanscape to capture the views of the Scenic historical township. An overview of the Spring Brook Country Club and the Pruddentown Historical District will be shared amongst every unit within the community.
The site design of the complex focuses on minimizing the impact on the existing landscape, and eliminating the removal of large quantity of trees and green spaces. reduction of impervious land coverage will also be implemented.
The townhouses adapt the form of pitched roof houses and are offsetted to create a playful dynamic to the iconic house figure.
To honor the historical presence of the Prudden Brick Works, the units are designed to have brick as the core material protected by a paneled box frame.
Interior layout of the townhouses are designed based off of a traditional townhouse plan with the household ammenities concentrated within the ground floors and the living quarters positioned on the second floors. Basement floors extends out into the backyard of each units, bringing the residents closer to the natural landscape.
Overall, the proposed community is a contemporary architectural interpretation that integrates the celebration of historical values and the betterment of everyday living.
Not often is there a chance to bring nature into in the interior - specially in New York City. Though small in size this small space is about the expanse of the great out doors.
