Case Study #3 – Columbia University Senior Faculty Residence 

With sweeping views over Riverside Drive, this residence was thoughtfully tailored to meet the needs and expectations of a senior faculty member. Our design approach centered on preserving these remarkable vistas for all public and social areas of the home, ensuring that daily living and gathering spaces remained visually connected to Riverside Park. 

Within this framework, the living and dining rooms were designed to function as integral parts of the social core while maintaining their own distinct, formal identities. These rooms support both everyday use and more elevated occasions, with circulation patterns carefully considered to allow multiple modes of entry. Guests may arrive directly from the foyer for a traditional, formal sequence, while family members can move more casually through the kitchen—each approach reinforcing a different aspect of the home’s character. 

The result is a residence that balances elegance with practicality, offering refined spaces that feel both connected and purposeful.
