Guarne House

When our clients purchased a traditional colonial farmhouse on a mountaintop in Guarne, they loved the site but not the limitations of the aging structure. They wanted a home that captured the essence of colonial architecture—the indoor-outdoor flow, the grand proportions, the connection to landscape—without the compromises of preserving a centuries-old building.

The challenge: reimagine colonial architecture for modern living while honoring what makes these farmhouses work so beautifully in the Colombian landscape.

Rather than restoration, we designed a modern home inspired by colonial principles. Long exterior corridors frame panoramic valley views. Generous terraces create seamless indoor-outdoor living. We introduced a new entrance sequence through a private garden—a transitional space that shifts residents from everyday life into their mountain retreat.

The result: a home with the soul of colonial architecture but none of the drawbacks. The clients gained the spaciousness, views, and indoor-outdoor flow of traditional farmhouses with the comfort, efficiency, and layout of contemporary design.
